Another Trump As President In 2028

Donald Trump Jr. strongly pushed back against recent reports suggesting he is seriously considering a run for president in 2028.

A story published Thursday by Mediaite claimed that three high-level sources indicated Trump Jr. was gauging support for a potential White House bid. However, Trump Jr. quickly dismissed the report, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight. Rather than considering a run himself, he voiced support for his father’s vice president, JD Vance, as a strong Republican contender for 2028.

In his response, Trump Jr. did not hold back, ridiculing the idea that he would have worked hard to help Vance secure the vice presidency if he had personal ambitions for the Oval Office. Using colorful and explicit language, he slammed the credibility of Mediaite’s sources and criticized the media for running with the story.

With President Trump, now 78, limited by the Constitution to two terms, the Republican Party will need to select a new nominee for 2028 unless an unlikely constitutional amendment changes that. Betting markets currently rank Trump Jr. as a longshot at 25-to-1 odds for winning the presidency, placing him behind Vice President JD Vance and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Mediaite’s report suggested that Trump Jr. has been in discussions with political allies and donors to assess support for a potential campaign. If true, this would put him among other high-profile Republicans potentially eyeing the 2028 nomination, including Vance, DeSantis, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Last month, President Trump was asked about a potential successor during a Super Bowl interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier. When pressed on whether he viewed Vance as the future Republican nominee, Trump was noncommittal, saying, “No, but he’s very capable. I think you have a lot of very capable people.” He added that Vance was doing a fantastic job but noted it was too early to make such decisions.

Trump Jr. has been a prominent figure in conservative politics, building a strong following through social media and grassroots campaigning. During the 2024 election cycle, he played a key role in rallying Republican support and maintaining close connections with the party’s base.

One of his most high-profile moments came at a Madison Square Garden rally on October 27, 2024, where he shared the stage with figures like Elon Musk, Rudy Giuliani, and Tucker Carlson. His speech electrified the crowd and reinforced the core messages of the MAGA movement, helping energize voters just days before the election.

While speculation continues about his political future, Trump Jr. has made it clear—for now—that he is not considering a presidential run. However, with the 2028 race still years away, many believe his strong influence within the Republican Party keeps him in the conversation.
