Americans Sour On Trump Instead On Biden

A new survey reveals that a majority of Americans feel their income isn’t keeping up with rising inflation, adding to financial strain across the country.

According to the latest CBS News/YouGov poll, 77% of respondents say their wages are not keeping pace with inflation, while only 23% feel they are managing to keep up.

Lower-income households are struggling the most—60% of those earning under $50,000 say their financial situation is poor. As income levels rise, concerns decrease, with only 15% of those making over $100,000 saying they are facing financial hardship.

The survey also highlights how personal financial struggles shape Americans’ broader views on the economy. With rising costs for housing, food, and debt payments, many remain pessimistic about the country’s economic direction.

President Trump campaigned on fixing inflation and improving the economy, a major factor in his election victory last November. However, since taking office, inflation has continued to climb. Trump has distanced himself from the issue, blaming former President Biden for the ongoing price increases.

When asked about the future of the economy:

  • 34% of respondents believe it will improve or even boom.
  • 22% think it will stay the same over the next year.
  • 21% predict it will slow down, while 23% fear a full-blown recession.

Overall, 60% of Americans currently rate the economy as “bad”, a 2-point increase from last year under Biden’s presidency.

The CBS/YouGov survey was conducted among 2,340 adults from February 24-26 and has a margin of error of 2.3 percentage points.

With inflation continuing to be a major concern, many Americans are watching closely to see if economic policies will bring real relief.
